Noisette. or Houblon. Interesting.

moominmolly posted this cool thing.

I'm not going to try to re-translate it -- she presents it quite well, especially if you read down a bit in the comments.

Looking back, I was born September 9, 1967, at 5:27 PM.

In the French Republican Calendar, that translates to Année 175 de la République, Mois de Fructidor, Décade III Jour du Tridi -- the 23rd Day, of the Month of Fruits, in the 175th Year of the Republic. This would make me a Houblon child (Hops, in English) -- a common ingredient of beer.

The calendar translator which I used seems not to be the most carefully designed, as it neglects to account for the shifting of the Autumnal Equinox between the 21st and 23rd of September -- and always puts it on the 22nd. The French Republican Calendar starts each year on the Autumnal Equinox, however, and as the Autumnal Equinox of 1966 was on the 23rd, my natal day shifts back one -- to Fructidor 22, 175. And with that, I shift to a Noisette -- the Common Hazel, flavoring of coffee, key ingredient of Nutella -- in other words, a nut.

I can live with that.
