where's macthud?

For the first time in living memory, there won't be a macthud-family dinner gathering for the holiday with the decorated tree.

Sister wisdom_seeker has just gotten home after delivering her first child (my 5th nephew) followed by a week or so in hospital (unplanned C-section and minor complications; all is now well so far as I know), and Mater and Pater are in attendance at her Long Island abode. Assorted mostly-budgetary complications keep me from making a visit there this weekend.

Each brother will be having whatever holiday observations they enjoy with his respective spouse and 2 sons. I'll leave them to it.

Instead, I'll be rotating from friend's event to friend's event the next few days. Tonight (or, depending on how you measure it, last night) found me at the now annual Kung-Fu Xmas hosted by 2 friends in Malden. I've forgotten the titles we watched, and it's just as well. Dinner was a quite tasty selection from a new-ish local chinese restaurant.

Tomorrow (today?), I'll spend the morning probably sleeping, the afternoon loafing and possibly laundering (if I have enough quarters), and the evening at another friend's annual shindig, Staxmas, in Brighton (Allston? close enough). First year I've been able to attend this reputedly legendary event. I'm looking forward to it!

Saturday, morning and afternoon are again empty so far, offering the chance to rest up before the evening brings one of my favorite holiday-season events, another friend's Fondue Party in Somerville. I met some of my now-favorite people there a few years ago, and it remains one of the few (and for some, only) times I get to see them each year. I'm glad of the opportunity, as much as I wish I'd see them more.

Sunday is expected to be fairly lazy, rising when I do, and joining in a small crafty-knitty-loungy afternoon with (can you guess?) a few friends, in Somerville. I have a feeling I'll be starting my day with brunch somewhere.

Clearly I've got something happening every day, but there is a fair bit of empty time, and the things I've got planned all run for several hours ... so if *you* haven't seen me for a while (or even if you have), and you'd like to get some time in? Please to be pinging by your most favorite means. All options on my profile page are fair game; IM or cell are the most likely to get immediate gratification, at least as far as scheduling.
