From there, a 5-10 minute hop across the train tracks to Somerville, for what is becoming my annual tradition for the countdown and toasting. More good fun chatting about music, wardrobe, and the like, with more people I see too little of, and a few new ones I hope to see more of. Shared out a German 2003 Riesling of unremembered origin -- I'm guessing this was a gift when I moved into Chelsea, but it may have come from anywhere, anywhen. If you remember gifting this, please know that I enjoyed it mightily.
Plenty of snuggling, and even a bit of smooching, mixed in to make it a far better night than I've generally had lately. Thanks for being there, all of you who were.
Tonight, I'll be headed to an annual New Year's Day gathering that's been going on for 20 years or so, which I've missed the past several. Tomorrow, back to the office for the day. I think tomorrow night is empty, which is probably good -- I can use that time to prepare the landing zone for that freezer I wrote about the other day.
Saturday, hopefully picking up the freezer, and visiting the parentals (order to be determined later), and then a post-NYE gathering with some of my favorite people, many of whom were not seen last night and won't be seen tonight. So that will also be a goodness.
It's been a challenging year, in so many ways, for so many people I know, including myself. If you're reading this, I'm glad you're out there, and I wish you all the best for this and every year.
