I sadly missed my opportunity to throw myself a three-13s party for my 39th, but oh well.
Today, listening to NPR nattering about how the Olympics were starting on 08/08/08 at 08:08:08, I realized -- next year, on 09/09/09 (though not at 09:09:09 nor even very close to that hour), I will celebrate my 42nd birthday. Nine is a power number in many traditions, including my own. 42 is the answer to the queston of Life, the Universe, and Everything. So it seems this natal anniversary should get special consideration.
Tragically, this will be a Wednesday, so I cannot really throw the sort of party I would wish, and even if I could, most friends could not attend. But I think it *must* be marked by an amazing dinner. And maybe something more party-like on a nearby weekend.
Labor Day will be Sept 7, 2009. So I *could* try to have a three-day party, but I somehow sense there will be massive conflicts. Maybe the weekend following, Sept 11-13 (Friday - Sunday)?
Your thoughts are welcomed.
