The role I fill has historically included dealing with significant repercussions of individual irresponsibility (people indulging in substances and quantities they shouldn't have), including a few rushed trips to the hospital about 30 legal minutes away (yeah, I've driven it in 15. don't tell.)... This year -- we had none of that. A couple of minor accidents, the hazard of being the first large group to use a facility after the winter's damages, but they were easily handled, and I wasn't awakened from a single night's sleep -- of which I had several, to stand alongside a couple of lovely overnights and dawn greetings by the large drumming fire circle.
I got to spend some quality time with friends old and new, participate in a few rituals both familiar and innovative, and generally have a grand time. The merchant circle was slightly smaller than it's been for the past few years, but still I came home with treats both tasty and sartorial. No new drum, yet, but with two I must acquire soonish -- a Hang, and a singing bell (similar to Tibetan singing bowls, but reportedly easier to play without the buzzing familiar to those who've played with the bowls).
I missed the arrival of alien Jarvis Bunger, who now has a new name by which she will ever more be known, but I will meet her Very Very Soon. What else have I missed? I'm sifting through some 6000 email messages, and skimming LJ from where I left off, but I'm sure to miss something. If it's important to you that I see it, please draw it to my attention -- I'm screening comments on this post, to aid you shy folks who don't want to share with the rest of the world through my unprotected postings, but will probably un-screen unless explicitly asked to keep it hidden -- so please do ask if that's important to you!
